The fitting or plug connection considered here forms a connecting element between pipes, in particular for air routing. The connecting element is a molded piece, at the ends of which the plug connection is formed. It consists of a dimensionally stable material, which is preferably sheet metal or steel of the ST 37 type; but aluminum, stainless steel or copper can also be used. The tubes are used in a variety of ways. They are used, for example, to feed air that has been sucked in, for example contaminated air, to a filter or to discharge it from a room into the open air. But they are also used to distribute heated or cooled fresh air for heating and ventilation of a building. The tubes have round or oval cross-sections.
Due to the increased demands on energy efficiency, efforts are made to avoid pressure losses when flowing through the pipes connected by means of the plug connection. The greatest losses occur at the points in which the individual pipes forming the entire pipeline are connected to one another by means of the plug connection. The pipes are usually connected to the fittings by plugging them into one another. The advantage of this type of connection is that it only requires short assembly times, which results in inexpensive assembly. However, this type of connection has the disadvantage that the tolerance of the nested components leads to pressure losses in the system.
To reduce these losses, it is therefore necessary to provide a seal at the connection points between the pipes and the fittings. In the case of round cross-sections, the seal is made by means of a lip seal which, due to the rotationally symmetrical shape of the pipe and fitting, is evenly applied to the pipe. In the case of oval cross-sections, this type of seal does not exist due to the changed geometry. This is due to the fact that the sealing effect in the case of oval geometries in the plug-in areas is uneven. While this is comparable to that of completely round geometries in the strongly rounded areas, it is only slight in the slightly or not at all rounded areas. In the case of very wide pipe cross-sections in particular, there may even be a deflection that makes sealing with the known seals difficult.
So far, self-tapping screws have been screwed through the pipe into the plug-in connection in the overlapping areas for sealing in order to increase the sealing effect in this way. In addition, the overlapping areas are then wrapped with adhesive tape to further improve the sealing effect. These measures lead to a corresponding seal; however, they are very complex and time-consuming. This type of seal is also only possible after the connection of the pipe and the plug connection or fitting, so that reworking of all connection points is necessary.
The invention aims to provide a remedy here. The invention is based on the object of creating a shaped piece for connecting pipes with an oval cross-section, which enables reliable sealing in the slightly or not at all rounded plug-in areas. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a seal is arranged in the base. The additional creation of a dimensionally stable, stretched contour in the straight area of the fitting in combination with the seal ensures the sealing effect between the pipe and the fitting or connector
With the invention, a fitting for connecting pipes with an oval cross-section is created, which enables a reliable seal even in the little or not rounded plug-in areas. This is caused by the provision of the seal, which brings about an improvement in the sealing effect. By attaching the seal, the seal is applied to the shape of the plugged-on pipe immediately during the insertion into one another, so that a better seal is produced. The additional creation of a dimensionally stable, elongated contour in the straight area of the plug-in connection in combination with the seal ensures the sealing effect between the pipe and the plug-in connector or fitting.
In an embodiment of the invention, the seal is held clamped in the base, the clamping of the seal in the base is preferably caused by a flanging. The clamped arrangement forms a reliable fastening of the seal on the plug connector, the flanging at the same time being easy to produce and also protecting the seal against damage when pipes are plugged into one another.
In a further development of the invention, the seal consists of a base body on which a first lip is molded, and adjacent to the first lip, a second lip is preferably molded on the base body. The sealing effect is improved by the lips because the lips are able to compensate for any unevenness of the nested parts. This also applies in particular to the sagging that sometimes occurs in fairly wide ducts. As a result, the sealing effect is improved.

The embodiments shown in the drawing show a molded piece 1 with an oval cross-section, at the ends of which a plug connection is formed. On the shaped piece 1 according to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, two seals 2 are arranged, which are arranged in the vicinity of the front ends of the shaped piece 1. Only one seal 2 is arranged on the molded piece 1 according to the exemplary embodiment in FIG.
With the fitting 1 according to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2 can be a connection of two - pipes of a duct for air guidance - not shown. The shaped piece 1 in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4 is provided for the connection of an oval pipe and is used to create a plug-in connection between an oval pipe and another component which is arranged in a duct for guiding air. This can be, for example, a branch, a multiple distribution box, an angle or the like. The molded piece 1 has a bead 11. Transition pieces 12 are formed adjacent to the bead 11 and, in the assembled state, guide the ends of the pipes to be connected.
The transition pieces 12 are followed by paragraphs 13, which end like a staircase in a base 14 in which the seals 2 are arranged. The free ends of the grounds 14 are flanged. The seal 2 is held clamped on the fitting 1 by the flange 17 formed in this way. The molded piece 1 has two strongly rounded areas 15. The areas 15 are connected to one another by non-rounded - flat - areas 16. The fitting 1 consequently has an oval cross-section. The flange 17 increases the stability of the molded piece 1, particularly in the non-rounded areas 16.
A rod can be arranged between the non-rounded areas. The rod leads to an increase in the stability of the fitting, especially in the case of very wide channels, which improves the connection of the pipes in the non-rounded areas, because this counteracts the bending of the pipes and possible vibrations due to the large width.
The seals 2 consist of a base body 21 which has a substantially rectangular cross section. A first lip 22, which is oriented at right angles to the base body 21, is molded onto the base body 21. In the exemplary embodiment, the lip 22 is arranged in the middle of the base body 21 and is therefore in the immediate vicinity of the flanged end of the molded piece 1. However, other positions are also possible.
Adjacent to the first lip 22, a second lip 23 is formed on the base body 21, which is arranged at one end of the base body 21. In the exemplary embodiment, the lip 23 is provided on the side of the seal 2 facing away from the flanged end of the molded piece 1. The second lip 23 is also aligned at right angles to the base body 21. It can be seen that the lips 22, 23 have different heights, the second lip 23 having a greater height than the first lip 22.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1, 3 and 4, the lip 22 already protrudes beyond the height of the flanged end of the molded piece 1. This already ensures a sealing function of the lip 22. The provision of the second lip 23 leads to a significant improvement in the sealing effect. Since the second lip 23 also protrudes further beyond the flanged end of the molded piece 1, the sealing function is additionally improved. This is due to the fact that the lip 23, due to its height, clings to the inside of the pushed-on pipe.
Because of the greater height, the lip 23 is also able to compensate for unevennesses in the pushed-on tube, which occur in particular in the areas that are not or only slightly rounded. This also takes place in the event that the respectively pushed-on tube has a relatively large width and, as a result, there is a deflection in the areas that are not or only slightly rounded.
The increased height of the second lip 23 also has the advantage that the lip 23 folds over in any case when the pipes to be connected are pushed on. This leads to a flat contact of the lip 23 on the inside of the pushed-on pipes, whereby the seal is additionally improved.
With the molded piece according to the invention, or plug-in connection, a significantly improved sealing of air lines at the connection points between the pipe and the molded piece for guiding air is created. Due to the inventive design of the plug connection with seal, the energy losses that occur due to the unwanted escape of air at the connection points between the pipe and the fitting are significantly reduced. This improves the energy efficiency of the respective ventilation system. In addition, the fitting is sealed with the pipes immediately when the parts are put together, so that no additional time is required for assembly. The seal according to the invention is consequently possible without increasing the assembly times.
